Meet Our Horses
The home of Warrior’s Soul, a 40-acre ranch nestled in the rural hills of Lincoln, California, is a serene sanctuary to over 30 horses. Several of the horses have been rescued or adopted out of situations of need, and many are used in the program for individual and group therapy sessions as well as for workshops and events. While all connections between horse and human have the potential for powerful dynamics, those between a horse who has had its own difficult history and someone in need of healing can be particularly profound.
Our equine friends are doing important work and they’ve been making an impact on big and little hearts for years. Unfortunately, oftentimes these aging healers are not supported by their previous owners but are still healthy enough to participate in the therapeutic activities at the ranch. These horses have so much to teach us about the beauty of aging – they reflect back to us the truth that despite serious medical conditions and life’s natural progression, we can still fully participate.
Several of the beloved equines that call the ranch home have serious medical problems and the nonprofit provides life-long care for them. They often live many years with their medical and geriatric conditions, and without the charitable support of labor and money from Warrior’s Soul, they would not survive.
